How many guests are in an overlanding expedition?

Each Signature Expedition has maximum of 12 guests, who will be accompanied by our expedition management team.

How many guests are in each 4x4 vehicle?

Prices are based on two people sharing a vehicle. On request, a third and fourth guest can be accommodated into the vehicle.

Who does the 4x4 driving?

Our expeditions are self-drive journeys, so you’ll be behind the wheel. If you wish to explore behind the wheels but not drive on all days, we can arrange for a chauffeur.

Do I need to be an expert at overland driving?

All we expect is a basic understanding of the machines and decent driving experience. You will be taught how to drive off-road and use a 4x4 by our expedition specialists during the journey.

What travel gears do i need to carry?

Our expeditions cover a wide range of terrains, hence multiple climates. For each expedition, our expedition team will advise you on the weather and the type of gears to be carried. We recommend reading the advisory and abiding by it.

Do i need an international driving permit/license for an offreading journey?

Most countries have varying requirements for joining Nomadic Road's overlanding expeditions. You will be notified much in advance about the same. Wherever mandatory you will need to arrange for an International Driving Permit/License.

Is it advisable to bring children?

It depends on the age of the child and the choice of expedition. Children above the age of 12 will be considered as adults. The charges may vary depending upon the age of child and hotel policy. It’s best to notify us at the time of booking. If you feel that they can enjoy the drives, they are most welcome. We do not encourage infants to travel.

how does Nomadic Road plan the ACCOMMODATION for its guests?

Venturing into remote areas, especially during the winter, calls for letting go of the luxury comforts. Nevertheless, based on the climate, we carefully curate a selection of hotels, lodges and wooden cabins to ensure after long days behind the wheel, you can relax in peaceful privacy. Remoteness also presents us with unique experiences at every destination.

Will i be sharing a room?

Our charges for accomodation rooms are based on twin share accommodation. Single rooms are available on request for extra charge.

Which cuisine can i expect on nomadic road's expeditions?

Breakfast is typically served buffet-style at hotels, while lunch is often taken on the road, either with a packed meal or in a suitable location. Dinner features local cuisine and other choices. Prior to the expedition, we gather dietary requirements to accommodate them during the trip.

Does nomadic road expedition only consist of driving?

Our expeditions emphasize driving as a primary activity. Additionally, we aim to incorporate opportunities for interacting with local people and culture, as well as visits to notable landscapes and historical sites. The itinerary includes leisure days to facilitate individual exploration.

How long are the driving hours?

Nomadic Road's offroading expeditions typically entail six to eight hours of driving per day, with the possibility of longer durations in inclement weather conditions. On leisure days, driving distances are shorter.

If I’m a solo traveler, can I share a car with someone else?

We don’t encourage strangers teaming up for long-distance drives. However, if there is another solo traveler interested in sharing a vehicle, then we can introduce you two to decide.

Do nomadic road expeditions have a SUPPORT VEHICLE?

Every Nomadic Road expedition consists of support vehicles along with mechanics and backup driver.

In case of breakdown, what steps does the Nomadic Road team take ? 

In the event of a breakdown, the Nomadic Road team promptly assesses the situation to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants. Usually, the support vehicle and accompanying mechanics are equipped to address any issues that arise. However, under extreme circumstances where this is not feasible, efforts are made to provide a backup car for continued journey. Communication is maintained with all involved parties to provide updates and coordinate assistance efficiently.

Incase of damage to the vehicle, do i have to pay?

The vehicles are insured; however, the extent of coverage varies depending on the destination. A detailed explanation of the insurance specifics will be provided before your participation in the trip. Participants may be held liable for damages not covered by insurance or if they fail to report damages promptly. Therefore, we strongly advise all participants to acquire comprehensive travel insurance that includes coverage for rental vehicle damage.

Can i bring my own vehicle?

Based on our experience, the paperwork and transportation costs often render this option impractical. However, if you remain determined to exclusively drive your own vehicle, we can explore possibilities on a case-by-case basis, contingent upon the destination. Let's discuss further to assess feasibility.

In case of unavoidable circumstances, can i cancel my booking?

Cancellations are subject to our cancellation policy.

What will i need to pay extra while on the expedition?

Our expeditions are an all inclusive experience except for your international flights, VISA costs and other items of personal nature like, travel insurance, tips, laundry and alcohol. And during the expedition, we would have some days which are left free where you can indulge in experiences of your own choice – eat, shop, buy local souvenirs, and indulge in activities that are not mentioned in our itinerary. All these would be additional. Before each expedition, we will inform you about what all you can do during the trip, so that you can be prepared for it in advance.
